DECLARATION
ADOPTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
"Saint Adalbert and Central Europe"

Today's Europe has found itself at a historic crossroads. For quite some time now, it has been facing serious political, economic, moral and cultural crises that it has not been able to solve successfully over the past decades. Citizens of Central European nations, historically connected to the heritage of St. Adalbert, are now facing threats to their shared cultural identity, economic second-class status or conflicting interests of great powers. We therefore urge political representatives of the Central European countries not to cease striving for deeper cooperation in all areas where our common heritage and shared interests can be effectively protected and developed autonomously, without external dictates.

The value framework of this newly formed Central European mutuality is based on the legacy of Antiquity, Christianity and folk traditions. The cornerstones of a society anchored in this way are the natural family and the nation. The basic principle of closer cooperation between Central European countries is respect for their sovereignty. We also call for closer cooperation between Central European countries in external and internal security, border protection, strengthening of economic autonomy and self-sufficiency, and last but not least, in building and connecting strategic infrastructure.

"SAINT ADALBERT AND CENTRAL EUROPE"

The event held in Prague in 2022 served as a platform to discuss closer cooperation among the Central European countries in connection with the legacy of Saint Adalbert and the cultural, historical, global political, economic, defense and security contexts.

The initial impetus for this discussion is the fact that Europe's political situation in the global context has been changing. The great powers have not only been thinking about a new arrangement of the Central European space but have already been planning for it to some extent, of course, to suit their own interests.
Therefore, the logic dictates that the countries of Central Europe should now take the initiative and actively engage in the process of defining and politically shaping this area.
We are convinced that these days no major political project can be created by the elites without actively engaging broad strata of the society.
Elites can speed some things up. They can precisely articulate what people feel only vaguely, but they cannot do without the consent and support of the public.
