Prime Minister Fico at Devín: I do not want Slovakia to be among the countries that make a caricature of Western civilization
Source: Pravda (SK) - On Friday July 5 evening,
celebrations of the arrival of Cyril and Methodius to Slovakia were held at
Devín Castle. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smér) also took part in the event. It
was his first public appearance since the assassination attempt in Handlova in
May. In his speech on Friday, he emphasized that the celebrations of the
arrival of Cyril and Methodius are extremely important for Slovakia. According
to Fitz, Christianity gives society a normal dimension. "We made a
reference to the spiritual heritage of Cyril and Methodius in the constitution.
Slovakia is supposed to be democratic, sovereign, social and ecological, and
they didn't want to write here and there that it should be normal. Normality
was given by the spiritual legacy of Cyril and Methodius," he explained.
"I don't want Slovakia to be among the countries that make a caricature of
Western civilization," the prime minister also pointed out.
